Strong storm heading for Portage La Prairie

6:22 PM CDT Friday 07 June 2019 Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • R.M. of Dufferin incl. Carman Roseisle and HomewoodR.M. of Grey incl. St. Claude Elm Creek and FannystelleR.M. of Portage la Prairie incl. St. Ambroise

At 6:34 p.m. CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to toonie size hail and heavy rain.


This line stretches from Long Plain south to Manitou and thunderstorms on the line are moving northeast at 50 km/h. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
