3:26 PM EST Wednesday 09 January 2019 Snow squall warning in effect for (areas in red)
Snow squalls are occurring. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.
A heavy snow squall has developed off Lake Huron and is currently affecting portions of Huron and Perth counties towards the Kitchener-Waterloo region. This squall will continue to move southward late this afternoon to stall near London by this evening. A local 15 cm of snow will be possible with this snow squall tonight before it weakens early Thursday morning.
Other heavy flurries will continue to the lee of Lake Huron through tonight, with lesser snowfall accumulations in the 5 to 10 cm range expected. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
