Watches
12:48 PM CDT Wednesday 17 June 2020 Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for areas in yellow:
Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and torrential rain. A cold front tracking eastwards across southern Manitoba is expected to trigger scattered to numerous thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening. These thunderstorms will rapidly become severe. This severe thunderstorm watch may be upgraded to a tornado watch later this afternoon as conditions continue to evolve and are closely monitored. The threat for severe thunderstorms will diminish late this evening as the cold front exits the province.
Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
