Extreme cold continues in Manitoba tonight with wind chills exceeding -40. Temperatures will moderate slightly on Tuesday but increase substantially on Wednesday as a warm front pushes in from the west. Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant. Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables. If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside. Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
Warnings for Saskatchewan
9:13 PM CST Monday 31 December 2018 Extreme Cold Warning in effect for (areas in red)
A period of very cold wind chills is expected. Overnight lows will again drop to near -30C over eastern and southeastern portions of the province. These cold temperatures will combine with winds up to 20 km/h to produce wind chill values as low as -40 to -45.
A warm front from Alberta will begin to bring milder air into Saskatchewan on Tuesday.
Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside. Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
