A period of very cold wind chills is expected.
An Arctic ridge of high pressure will settle over the central prairies tonight dropping temperatures to near minus 30C by Tuesday morning. These temperatures in combination with westerly winds of 10 to 15 km/h will create wind chill values of minus 40 or lower. Wind chill values will moderate slightly on Tuesday however similar wind chill values are likely again Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.
If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.
